VALENTINE'S TABLESCAPE THURSDAY

Today I am showing a Valentine tablescape for Susan's Tablescape Thursday. Be sure and visit her beautiful blog
BETWEEN NAPS ON THE PORCH
to check out all the other participants.

*

At Christmas time this year at our gift exchange we gave "gifts from the heart" which were to be homemade...so we gave a dinner for 4 to be claimed by the end of March. Our winning foursome claimed the dinner January 30th which was close enough for me to want to make it a Valentine's table using the cherub dishes "Heavenly Hosts" by Atelier that I recently purchased.
*

*

Oops, my candles are leaning in the centerpiece...why don't we ever see these things before the photos are taken?
**
Here's a closeup from the front....I used cherub candle holders entwined with Valentine sparkly hearts & garland. I wrapped the base of the cherubs with a sheer black scarf that has silver stars
on it...
*
A view from the back...

*

A closeup of a place setting...do you see my salt cellars with the little glass spoons? I learned about these from Susan @ BETWEEN NAPS ON THE PORCH
An eBay find...I also bought some crystal knife rests but they didn't make it in time for this dinner....

*

I used my 2-toned pear napkin rings...I like them because they match my flatware...

*

Closeup of the dinner plate...I do love those sweet cherubs!

*

I learned from Miss Janice @ Etiquette with Miss Janice to place the spoon on the saucer...

*

I used clear water goblets & my red white wine glasses from Tuesday Morning & set them on mirrored coasters from Target...

*

And I thought these little glass roses from Dollar Tree would make perfect place card holders...

*

I had every intention of photographing our meal and totally forgot once our fun guests arrived. We had shrimp stuffed mushrooms & a cheese ball with crackers as hors d'oeuvres along with margaritas...hey, maybe that's why I forgot the photos???

*

Then we served the dinner in 4 courses:

Creamy Corn Soup
*
Green Salad
*
Baked Honey Mustard Chicken Breast, Rice Pilaf & Asparagus Spears in Carrot Circles
*
Sweet Potato Biscuits (Beverly's recipe from How Sweet The Sound -YUM!)

&

Ghirardelli Ultimate Fudge Brownies (Gollum posted about these @ Designs by Gollum )
*
Vanilla Ice cream w/ Hot Fudge Sauce
*
Hazelnut Cream Coffee

*

A good time was shared by all...

What a wonderful table! Love that china pattern - it's a new one on me! I am the same way with pictures when I entertain - I get pictures of the table before, but once the guests show up, I forget to photograph the food. I usually blame my chatty hostess style, but you are right- maybe the cocktails have something to do with it!!!! :D Jewel

Good evening Bo. I'm 'glad' I met you too my friend. Your table and your lovely meal is gorgeous. I love the festive valentine look and the individual salts topped it off. My sister collected them for years. You have the most beautiful dishes. I keep forgetting Thursday is also a tablescape day.

This morning my cousin Bob helped me decorate my long pine table for valentines day. This table is 10 feet long and not very wide. My daughter sent me a gorgeous red table cloth and 120 inches leaves about 6 inches hanging off each end. I will show it on pink Saturday because I am using red and pink accents. You inspire me.

Love to you with hugs...Jeanne

Bo,
What a lovely table.

Well, I've been working on mine since you encouraged me about doing the bird nest table myself. I will take photos for next week.

I am having a lot of fun, and learning to express myself in new ways. It may not be correct as far as Emily Post goes, but it will be cute!!

Thank you for encouraging me to stretch myself.

Blessings, Barbara Jean

Hi Bo,

I LOVE your tablescape. It is absolutely gorgeous! The menu sounds quite delicious too!

Thanks so much for your kind, encouraging words during this time of disaster in Oklahoma. They just opened a street right next to us (walking distance) and there are some homes totally demolished. It is so scary to think we were that close to the tornado.

Good morning Bo. We had a great visit with our son and his wife. They cooked a great meal Chicken Alfredo, very gourmet. Bourbon Double Chocolate cake, with whipped cream which had spices in it. One of the spices she tells me was $7.00. Brett wore a pink shirt so I could take his picture for Pink Saturday. My son is such a fun guy. They left to go home around 9:00pm and I went straight to bed. LOL.

Have a wonderful Sunday...Love, Jeanne
