"FLAUNT YOUR REDS FRIDAY"

Announcing the first ever 'FLAUNT YOUR REDS FRIDAY' hosted by Nancy @ ~Southern Lady~ ...if you haven't visited her blog before...you owe it to yourself to go there right away. Her home is gorgeous, her talents are plentiful, her heart is warm & gracious & she is someone you'd LOVE to get to know!

*

Okay, here is my offerings of REDS found around my home...I've only recently discovered it's my new favorite color, so please forgive me when you see some of my photo offerings...

For instance...you'll always see some of these around my house...

*

Here is a painting above my fireplace ...

This is a gift from my precious "adopted" sister

And a rooster cookie jar from Ross

sorry about the glare on this picture...it is a companion piece to the following one...

These remind us of our once-in-a-lifetime trip to Europe in 2006...

*

Do you remember this precious gift Nikki @ Blah, Blah, Blah, blog sent me a while ago....

Oh, sorry...this photo of my chef quartet didn't turn out well...some have red kerchiefs...some have red cheeks...some are just there...

Here are my rooster canisters from Ross...yeah, they're empty, but I just like seeing them sitting around on the cabinet....

Now this is my new best friend...please ignore the lamp cord to the left...

I love this can opener from Wallyworld...

Oh yes, I had to have a rooster...he's from Ross...his tail feathers are metal...imagine that!

These chair cushions were found at my favorite thrift store...set of 4 for $8...please ignore the leaf on the left of the pic...remember I have 3 pooches that track in "stuff"...

I sure hope you're not sick of seeing my breakfast nook mural...it makes me smile every morning when I walk in & see it...

I think they call these a cache pot??? I just bought it because....
I got this pillow for $3 at an estate sale...I put it out at Christmas, but I left it out for year around ....

*

What??? You are still with me??? OK then...this is just an arrangement sitting on my hearth...

*

Here is a 3-dimensional plaque from my fave thrift store...and this is a wall that I painted over 45 year old attached wallpaper...
*

I used these apples with some greenery at Christmas & I decided to leave them on the ledge year around...a Dollar Store find...
*

I bought this rug to go in front of my fridge...but WHOA...way too bright, so back to Big Lots it went...

*

Now here is my favorite piece...this is a hand-painted wooden & very heavy box I found at a thrift store priced at $15...but it was discounted that day & I got it for $12. the artistry is excellent..

*

Just look at the detailed work on the sides...It measures 15" around & 6" deep...
*

The artist even painted the inside of the box & lid.... Thank you whoever you were that made this treasure for me to find....

I'm so glad you stayed with me for my first tour of REDS & please go over to see Nancy to view the other blogs that are flaunting their reds today!

Bye-bye...

DOUBLE WHAMMY..."OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY" & "I WONDER WEDNESDAY"

This is my first "OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY" post hosted by Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer. Please go and visit her beautiful blog & check out this week's participants. I'm so excited to share my dear friend Micki's incredible sanctuary of a yard with all of you...she & her dear departed husband Bill, who was a Naval Commander during his career in the military, built their wonderful yard stone by stone, plant by plant & tree by tree. I asked her permission to post her pictures & in no particular order, here they are:

*

A fall scene of the stairs leading down to a bench to sit & listen to nature. Their property backs to a creek where deer, opossums, foxes & other critters have been seen...

*

Imagine if you will, they had to grade the entire area & lay the electrical for this lantern...

*

This is a view looking back at their home...each & every step was hand laid by them...

*

A cart positioned on a terraced level of their beautiful yard ...

*

A closer view... do you notice the circular stone wall in the background...it was built by Bill.

*

Their yard is in different levels and has walkways leading to lovely areas to enjoy & here is a bridge that Bill built to access another area of their sanctuary...

*

This is a fall/winter scene of their magnificent yard that Micki might not have wanted me to post, but I think it is still beautiful!

*

Okay, now check this out...I've always called this a Tulip Tree...isn't it spectacular?! But, I just learned from Micki it is actually a deciduous MAGNOLIA...

*

Here is a close-up...this picture was taken recently...I LOVE this color & the shape of the flowers, don't you?

*

Okay, one last photo of a flower bed in her front yard...Well, I must thank my dear friend Micki for letting me share her fantastic sanctuary with Blogland...I hope you loved it as much as I do...
*

Now for my Double-Whammy....this is also "I WONDER WEDNESDAY" hosted by none other than a Blogland favorite...TarDevil @ Confessions of a 40-something Mama Queen

*
