It Takes A Village

This Christmas Village is made out of wood. Each building lights up on the inside. These were purchased at Lowe's after-Christmas sale in Gadsden, Alabama 10 years ago and retailed for over $400. ...no wonder they were leftover!
I've never seen any like them since.
These are my DH's favorite things & he sets them up every year. They are in the breakfast nook bay window.

*

*

Taking a closer look...every village needs a "Fix-it Shop"

*
*
*

And a Bakery

*
*
*
And here's The Kringle's Cottage...inside are the cutest things in each of the buildings...

*
*
*
Of course there has to be the North Pole Emporium for shoppers...

*
*
*
Can you believe they have a Garden Shoppe...have to buy those wreaths somewhere....

*
*
*
No village would be complete without a church!

*

We have a porcelain village as well, but seldom display it since we bought this one. All of the buildings are about a foot tall...as you can see the smoke from the chimneys are coiled copper .

♥♥Thanks for checking out my DH's village ♥♥

You know Bo! They say, it always takes a village.... These are really unique in wood. They remind of the papier mache or cardboard ones that used to come from Japan in the 40's. Some of those has a place for a bulb as well. Thanks for showing the night effect as it is really romantic. Have a great day!

The village is so wonderful. I would love to see it in person. I can only imagine the work that went into each building. Your dh does a fabulous job putting it on display. Each piece has it's own charm. Thank you for sharing this beautiful work of art.

Your village is beautiful...I've never seen one built of wood and so tall! What a wonderful after-Christmas acquisition to enjoy for years to come.
I've interrupted my Christmas decorating because I am currently a refugee from the power outage caused by a big ice storm here in Massachusetts. I woke up Friday to no heat, no light, actually no electricity. So also no internet, no home telephone and sheets of ice over everything on my deck outside. Trees were snapped and hanging across my smashed side fence, across the front lawn. Thankfully none struck the house. I and my 90-year-old mother are now 50 miles south with my sister and her family. I hope to return on Monday as that's when the electric company's web site estimates the power will be back on.

WOW - those were great!! Your hubs did good. My DH's idea of help is to get the stuff out of the attic and put the tree together for me!! To be honest, that is all I really "allow" him to do!! LOL - he tried when we first got married, but I'm such a perfectionist, I end up going behind him and re-arranging everything!!
Your village looks great!!
Enjoy your season ~

Love Mr. Bo's village, Bo. I saw it in a previous post and I wondered about it then. It is so fanciful in design -- they look sort of like a childen's book illustration.

Thanks for your congratulations and good wishes on the birth of my grandson! We are so thankful for him.
