"WAKE UP WINTER YARD...SPRING IS HERE!"

Welcome to Outdoor Wednesday hosted by Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer....this is a chance to view her garden & that of other participants' gardens...be sure to visit her blog...and thanks Susan for being our gracious hostess.
*
I nicknamed this tree face "Booger Woods"
and I think he seems to be telling my winter yard to "Wake up...spring is here!" Yes, I'm going to show you my ugly winter yard with all of its warts, weeds, & bare ugliness...
*
This fence is bordered by crape myrtles & blueberries, raspberries & grapes will hopefully be growing on the trellises soon. The flower beds (under the weeds )have purple & red salvia which didn't do well last year, but they are peeking through the ground now. Also, there are some yellow cannas...they may have to be moved...we usually have petunias in various colors planted on the baskets on this fence...
*

The back fence looks pretty naked right now...there are some hydrangeas that are starting to put on leaves...in the beds we border with red & white impatiens & mixed colors of caladiums....
*
By the garage wall are the 2 red azaleas & on the corner is a gardenia bush that is loaded with buds....it was heavenly last year & the fragrance was out of this world. There is some wandering Jew in this flower bed also...we may be moving it out to another location...that's Mr. Bo's start of a veggie garden to the left...
*
and these azaleas took a beating last night from some heavy rain, but they are Encore azaleas so they'll be covered in flowers again & again
*
Isn't this a mess! This is part of Mr. Bo's overwintered flower pots & such...he moved them under the patio to protect them from the storm..
*
Let's take a look at them back out on their shepherds' hooks lining the fence...
*
This is a double petunia basket
*
Hot pink geranium basket
*
Variegated red & white geranium basket
*
apricot geranium basket
...did I ever tell you I L♥VE GERANIUMS!!
*
This is a hosta we planted out front to help hide the white pipe behind it...it got 3 feet wide last year and about a foot tall so it hid the pipe very well...I'm sure happy to see it emerging again this spring...
*
pretty red azaleas...only the spring blooming type...
*
this is one spring only bloomer & an encore azalea planted side by side...I don't know what those green spiky things are, but they are GOING! They don't bloom...please overlook the messy beds...that job is looming...
*
and this is a white with pink stripe (hard to see) azalea...but look at that one rogue pink bloom...
Okay, I've shown you the good, the bad & the ugly...so if you'll excuse me...I'll get outside & start cleaning out those neglected beds.
Don't forget to visit Susan
Thanks for your visit!
